Under the personae of its operational divisions, Civic Disability Services offers a range of employment, accommodation and training opportunities which assist people with disabilities.

Civic Industries offers a range of employment opportunities to people with intellectual disabilities. All employees are given on the job training to complete a range of tasks over a broad spectrum of manufacturing industries.

All employees are given support to enhance their abilities and assist them to participate in the working community at their optimum individual level. Civic Industries has a clean modern factory with excellent training room facilities. All employees are paid a fair wage dependant on their individual skill level.

Our hours of work are 8am to 4pm Monday to Thursday and 8am to 1pm on Fridays. We are located at 103 Cawarra Road Caringbah a ten minute walk from Caringbah train station or two minutes from the bus stop.

Civic Residential Services
A dynamic and innovative residential support service for people with disabilities. Civic Residential Service supports up to 120 people in a wide range of accommodation and service models from 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, high needs support, to flexible and tailored respite options and day program support.

Important Employment Policy Statements
The Commonwealth Government assists Civic Industries to provide quality employment support to our employees. As part of our commitment to the Commonwealth Disability Standards, we are pleased to provide the following key policy statements.

ELIGIBILITY FOR SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT
Civic Industries employs people over the age of 18 who have an intellectual disability and / or a mental illness, are receiving or are eligible for the disability support pension and want to work. Each person is then placed on a three (3) month trial period, and they are asked to sign a job contract. A discussion is held at the end of the three (3) months, and each person talks about whether they would like to stay working at Civic Industries and if Civic Industries thinks they can do the job. If the person is to stay they will sign a new job contract. While working at Civic Industries each new employee will be given training on a variety of jobs and will learn about work.

DECISION MAKING & CHOICE
Civic Industries aims to give all employees as much choice as possible in regards to their work through individualised supports and a structured Career Plan Process.

Employees are also encouraged to participate in the management of the service through regular employee meetings and training groups. We have a Safety Committee primarily made up of employees who monitor all OH&S Issues and we have a team of Employee Representatives who are elected every year to represent employees at management/staff meetings and who help with service assessments and updating of policies and procedures

Employees are encouraged to discuss their concerns or ideas for improvement and we have an easily accessible suggestion box.

PRIVACY DIGNITY & RESPECT
All staff who work at Civic Industries have a range of skills and experience in working with our employees. We always ensure individual rights are upheld and that all employees are treated fairly, with respect and dignity.

Files that are kept for each employee are kept private and confidential in locked cabinets. Employees can see their files at any time but, information from these files can not be given out without the employees consent. Any talk between staff and employees that is about private and personal matters is always held in private.

PROTECTION OF HUMAN RIGHTS & FREEDOM FROM ABUSE
All employers must provide a workplace that protects and promotes employees rights.

Civic Industries will provide for its Employees, an environment that is safe and secure and where the work practices of staff are structured to prevent any form of abuse or neglect occurring.
